What surgery did Donda die from?

Rapper Kanye West's mother Donda West died unexpectedly after breast lift surgery and tummy tuck. This tragedy caused a stir in the world of cosmetic surgery. Donda underwent liposuction, tummy tuck, and breast reduction, the day before she died. Donda underwent liposuction, abdominoplasty, and breast reduction, and died at home the next day following complications from surgery.

According to his surgeon, West's surgery was normal and he believes he died of a heart attack, pulmonary embolism, or an accidental overdose of medications prescribed for pain after the procedure. West's mother, Donda, was a professor at Chicago State University where she worked for 31 years, 24 of which were in the Department of English, Communications, Media and Theater. A law passed after his death — called the 'Donda Law' — requires plastic surgeons to ensure that patients have undergone a physical examination and are approved by their primary care physician before undergoing cosmetic procedures. Adams told INSIDE Edition that he advised Donda to recover from her surgeries at the hospital, but that the patient was looking forward to returning home.

Born in Oklahoma in 1949, Donda West graduated in 1971 from Virginia Union University, received her doctorate in 1980 from Auburn University in Alabama and taught for 31 years, first as an assistant and then as a professor. The coroner's final report stated that Donda West's death was due to “coronary artery disease and multiple post-operative factors due to or as a result of liposuction and mammoplasty. Donda West was admitted to the hospital for liposuction, tummy tuck and breast reduction in Donda's November autopsy report revealed that she experienced sore throat, pain and tightness in her chest, before collapsing in the early morning of the day after her cosmetic procedures. Donda West did not die during surgery, but instead went home, against the recommendation of the surgeon who performed her procedure where she died of cardiac arrest.

Donda served as CEO of West Brands LLC and president of the Kanye West Foundation, a nonprofit educational organization that works to reduce dropout rates and improve literacy. The 58-year-old chose to have liposuction, tummy tuck and breast reduction the day before she died. Donda appeared in parts of jeen-yuhs that show the intimate bond between Kanye and his mother, and they also focus on his relationship to fame. The tragedy prompted California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to tighten cosmetic surgery laws with the Donda West Act, which requires all cosmetic surgery patients to receive prior medical authorization after a physical exam.

Jan Adams, has spoken extensively about the death of Donda West, revealing to INSIDE Edition that the lengthy liposuction, tummy tuck and breast reduction surgery was carried out without any problems.
